A Nurturing Montessori Education for Children Aged 18 Months to 12 Years
Casa Montessori’s Wilkes Avenue campus offers transformative Infant/Toddler (18 months to 3 years), Early Childhood (3 to 6 years), and Elementary (6 to 12 years) programs. Combining the principles of Montessori education with the enriching Orff music method, we provide a warm, collaborative environment where children embark on a journey of discovery, creativity, and growth.

Operating a year-round infant/toddler program, which is held from September through June of the school year.
Early Childhood Program: A ten-month program operating on a school-year calendar from September through June. Summer options are also available for Early Childhood students.
Elementary Program: A ten-month Grade 1-6 program.

1. Infant/Toddler Program (18 Months – 3 Years)(Year-round 12 month Program)
Our Infant/Toddler program at Wilkes Avenue provides a safe, nurturing environment where the youngest learners embark on a journey of discovery, growth, and independence. With individualized care, guided exploration, and enriching music activities, we support each individual child’s developmental milestones.

2. Early Childhood Program (3–6 Years)
Our Early Childhood program focuses on building a strong foundation for academic, social, and emotional growth:
Montessori Activities:
Practical Life: Develop fine motor control, concentration, order, care for the environment and care for oneself.
Sensorial: The sensorial materials isolate each sense and help develop each sense further, including the visual (the sense of sight), auditory (the sense of hearing), tactile (the sense of touch) and olfactory senses (the sense of smell).
Language: A focus on developing a child’s verbal language through vocabulary-building activities, preparing the hand to write, learning the phonetic sounds of the letters of the alphabet and gradually through a very specific reading scheme learning to read phonetically and then non-phonetically.
Math: Focusing on the quantities and symbols 1-10 and doing everything with the numbers 1-9, including adding, subtracting and multiplying. Following this, students learn about the decimal system: the unit, ten, hundred and thousand using beautiful Montessori golden beads and then work on the operations of addition, multiplication, division and subtraction.
Cultural Studies: Geography, zoology, botany, and history introduced in age-appropriate ways.
Orff Music Integration:
Daily music sessions with singing, movement, and instruments playing to spark creativity and cognitive development.
Caring Environment:
Guides foster respect and empathy, creating a safe and inclusive space for children to explore their interests.
3. Elementary Program (6–12 Years)
The Elementary program at Wilkes encourages advanced academic skills and collaboration tailored to children’s growing curiosity about the world:
Curriculum Highlights:
Language: From reading, writing skills, cursive handwriting, grammar, word study, sentence structure, and paragraphs to essay writing
Math: Using Montessori tools, we help students learn addition, subtraction, multiplying, and dividing, including long multiplication and long division, decimal fractions, geometry, and algebra.
The Great Stories: Narratives that inspire exploration of the universe, the earth, the plant kingdom, the animal kingdom, the history of humans and the history of language and math.
Individually Chosen Research Projects: Encourages students to learn further based on their interests.
Cultural Studies: Including geography, history, botany, zoology, physics and chemistry.
Social & Emotional Growth:
Collaborative group work fosters leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving.
Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN):
Upper elementary third-year students (Grade 6) participate in a global conference, representing countries and debating real-world issues in New York, and they end their conference at the UN General Assembly.
Orff Music Program:
Advanced music sessions deepen students’ understanding of music with the use of many kinds of instruments, including percussion instruments, barred instruments, recorders and ukuleles.

For Elementary Students (6–12 Years)
The Elementary program at Wilkes encourages advanced academic skills and collaboration tailored to children’s growing curiosity about the world:
Curriculum Highlights:
Teaching the fundamentals including: Language, math, geometry, geography, history, zoology, botany, sciences (physics and chemistry) art, music, and French. All the materials used are hands-on Montessori materials.
The 5 Great Stories: Narratives that inspire exploration of the universe, our world including plants, animals and humankind; the history of language and the history of mathematics.
Individually Chosen Research Projects:
Students research topics of interest as a basis for learning and developing critical thinking.
Social & Emotional Growth:
Collaborative group work fosters leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving.
